Alexander Martovsky

Alexander Martovsky is a belarusian self-taught composer. He was born on March 16, 1987 in Minsk.

He graduated from music school’s accordeon class in 2000 and percussion class in 2005. The last one he graduated with honors a year ahead of the official graduation. Ales composed music from early childhood, but he got computer to compose on it only at 15. His early music is eclectic mix from ambient, shoegaze, IDM, deep house and classical music with vintage (lo-fi) sounding. But his todays works lies more between academic and those mainstream forms.

In 2011 Ales Tsurko founded the Society For The Development Of New Music. That non-profit creative association developed and promoted contemporary classical music. Members of the society was composers and teachers of the Belarusian State Academy of Music: Kanstantsin Yaskou, Maksim Kruhly and Olga Podhayskaya. He also founded the Belarus Modern Ensemble and initiated establishing of the Belarus Modern Orchestra, both of which specialised on contemporary classical music. Between 2012 and 2014 he was also the sound engineer at an independent recording studio.
